We had a great time chatting with Anna and Jessica of Unconsoleable about Burly Men at Sea, Doggins, and what’s next for us. There’s even a guest appearance by the real Doggins, who wanted to let us know that he would, in fact, like to play. Go listen!

Sending our beardy guys to Třeboň, CZ, for Anifilm tomorrow!

We’re back from our travels, just in time to release Burly Men at Sea 1.2 for iOS! This update is full of fixes and improvements, but we’ve also added two big features for free:
Sticker Pack
We had fun with this one. It features twenty stickers from the game, mostly animated, and a few beardly decals. If you already own the game and iOS 10, you’ll find it in Messages after updating.
Apple TV
It’s here! We’ve been quietly working to bring the game to Apple TV with solid support for the remote, and now for the first time, you can play Burly Men at Sea on your TV. It’s also universal, so if you already own the game for iOS, you now own both!
Pre-orders have shipped, and all *mystery* books are now available to purchase! Our first run is a limited one, so now is your best chance to get a copy: burlymenatsea.com/mystery
Still don’t know what this is about? Allow IndieHangover to explain:
“Each possible story in Burly Men at Sea has been assigned at number, and by going to burlymenatsea.com/mystery and entering that number, you’ll reveal the hidden treasure of this game. Each of these numerical codes corresponds to an actual print book that tells the story of that particular play through.”
We’re incredibly proud of how they came out: fifty pages printed and bound here in the U.S. with debossed fabric hardcover. The artwork itself is a stylized representation of the game, unique to the books. We wanted it to feel as if an artifact from the game world is sitting on your shelf, AND IT DOES.
Also! A few of the books will be on display with the game at Now Play This in London next month, alongside a pretty incredible lineup of experimental games. If you’ll be there, send us a photo (and know that we’re envious)!

Our beardy fellas will be making mischief in this year’s Mild Rumpus at GDC! That cozy little patch of weirdly adorable games in Moscone West has always been one of our favorite things at GDC, so we’re super excited to have Burly Men at Sea in there.
Also! David will be there Monday giving a little talk about the game, at 3pm. Come?
⚓️

Burly Men at Sea is 30% off on Steam for the next week! Along with the sale is our first big PC/Mac update that includes Italian localization by Marialuisa Ruggiero, Steam achievements, and other good stuff (full list here). The update is also available on Itch.io, Humble Store, and Google Play (iOS to follow).
*chaos of celebration*

We’ve been fairly quiet since releasing Burly Men at Sea, so it’s time for some answers to those burning questions about what’s next for Brain&Brain.
So that covers most of what we haven’t said in months, though there was also that crazy IGF honorable mention for Excellence in Narrative, and several big things we have yet to announce. And we’ll be at GDC, so hugs there if you see us!
More news soon!
